As of Tuesday morning, almost 2 thousand cases of influenza have been officially registered in this republic — 20 times more than one week ago.<\/p>\n

Dr Petru Scoferta of the National Center of Preventive Medicine pointed out that due to the disease spreading also in neighbor countries (Romania, Ukraine and Russia), the Moldovan Ministry of Health is undertaking emergency measures to restrict the working regimes of establishments and facilities subject to higher epidemic risks — schools, kindergartens, etc.<\/p>\n

This week, a tougher quarantine regime was introduced in many health establishments: access to patients by relatives and other visitors has been severely restricted, and emergency disinfection measures are being undertaken everywhere. The Ministry of Finance is preparing to allocate 80,000 lei to reinforce epidemiologic supervision and virusologic analyses and control operations.<\/p>\n

So far, the Ministry of Health is unable to state precisely which type of virus the republic is suffering now.
