Although six states did appoint new Ambassadors for Moldova,they did not start their activity at Chisinau because they did not presenttheir accrediting letters.<\/p>\n

We do remind you that at the end of the last year and at the beginningof 1999 six Ambassadors- delegated in states that are in the same geopoliticalparameter with Moldova, that were accredited, by cumulation, at Chisinau aswell – cancelled their missions in Moldova, because the states that appointed them decided to be represented by diplomatic missions from othercapitals. Thus in 1998 Spain decided to be represented at Chisinau through its Embassy from Bucharest and not through the one from Moscow). In 1999, fivemore states performed transfers of accrediting in Moldova: from Moscow to Bucharest, from Budapest to Kiev, and from Kiev to Moscow.<\/p>\n

Head of the Department for Diplomatic Protocol of the Ministry of External Affairs Alexei Cracan declared that in his opinion, that fact thosesix diplomats expected by the Chisinau officials did not present their accrediting letters can be qualified as a delay determined by the governmentalcrisis, and thus it shall not give rise to any worries. "According to diplomaticrules, Ambassadors present their accrediting letters in a term of 1-2 monthsafter they are accepted by the respective state", declared Cracan.<\/p>\n
