About 250 participants in the 1992 war for Moldova’s independence and integrity today received expensive gifts from the Chisinau city hall, and the interior and defence ministries. <\/p>\n

Widows of people dead during the conflict and the invalids received 300 lei each, and people with the first and second degree of invalidity were offered a TV set each. <\/p>\n

Defence Minister Valeriu Plesca said at the event that such gestures of the state institutions and local public administration prove that nobody and never has forgotten those who risked their lives in the 1992 military conflict. Plesca also said that the Defence Ministry will always support the participants in the war on the Dniestre river. <\/p>\n

Deputy Interior Minister Igor Bodorin congratulated, on behalf of the ministry’s leadership, all the militants present at the event. He said that the ministry will further on materially support the participants in the 1992 war. <\/p>\n

Acting Chisinau mayor Vasile Ursu recollected that many of the participants in this war lost their lives, and others became invalids for ever. They must not be forgotten, especially before the 15th anniversary of Moldova’s independence, Ursu added. <\/p>\n
