After sending a legal case to the court, the offenders will be kept under arrest at the most 12 months, depending on the seriousness of the committed offence. The Parliament voted on these amendments to the Penal Code in first reading on July 13. <\/p>\n

Under the amendments, the offender will be kept under arrest for six months if he is accused of committing a crime punished with up to 15 years in jail. If the offence is punished with up to 25 years imprisonment, the lawbreaker will be remanded in custody for at most 12 months. <\/p>\n

When the fixed terms expire, the offender can be triad under arrest only in exceptional cases. The arrest term will be each time extended for another three months until the sentence is passed. <\/p>\n
