Courses on child adoption are given in Moldova on Sundays and Saturdays for the parents that want to adopt a child. The courses are held as part of the national adoption promotion strategy. The future adopters are familiarized with the legislative framework in this field, receive psychological assistance, study the social role of the adopted child and adopting parents. <\/p>\n

Mariana Ianukevici, president of the Association “Save the Moldovan Children”, told a news conference on Thursday that a child can be adopted by persons aged 25-50. Their psychological and economic condition will be assessed by an inspector of the district where the corresponding persons live and by the public administration. At parents’ request, the government will provide material support to the value of 200 lei monthly until the child attains his majority. <\/p>\n

Ninety-four children have been adopted in Moldova this year. Forty-seven Moldovan children of the 94 have been adopted abroad. As many as 295 children had been adopted in 2003, 319 children in 2004, and 288 children in 2005. <\/p>\n
