Last year, 6,827 nationals of Moldova left the country for good, emigrating mostly to Russia (3,310) and Ukraine (2,057) as well as to the United States (568), Germany (373), and Israel (220), and other countries. <\/p>\n

The number of immigrants was substantially lower – only 2,056 persons. Of them, 593 have by now received permanent resident permits, and the rest 1,463 – temporary permits. <\/p>\n

More than a half of the immigrants (1,130) are former residents of Moldova. 59.3% of them are ethnic Moldovans, 16.2% — ethnic Ukrainians, and 12.6% — ethnic Russians.
