The citizens of the US, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, as well as those of the EU member states will enter Moldova without visas as of 1 January 2007. The Moldovan Parliament passed in final reading the bill on the unilateral abolition of the visa regime with the mentioned states. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the legislative initiative of the Communist MP Petru Gozun, which proposed including Norway and Israel in the list of states for which the visa regime was to be cancelled, was rejected. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the visa regime for these two countries should be set by bilateral agreements. <\/p>\n

According to the Foreign Ministry, the free movement of people between Moldova and the EU member states, and other countries will positively influence the negotiations with the European Commission over facilitation of the visa regime for Moldovan citizen that will start on 1 January 2007. <\/p>\n
