A 5-day exhibition of ikebana works, made by the members of the Moldova subdivision of Ikenobo Institute in CIS republics, has ended in Chisinau today. <\/p>\n

The head of the Ikenobo Moldova subdivision Angela Lobastova said the exhibition was dedicated to Japan’s traditional events of the springtime – the Hina Matsuri (Girls’ Holiday) and the Hanami (Sakura Blossom Holiday). <\/p>\n

At the Chisinau exhibition, the local ikebana lovers presented their flower compositions that fascinated visitors with an unusual gamma and harmony of plants and colors. They exhibited ikebana beauties in the styles of shoka shofutai, rikka shinputai, and the free style, Angela Lobastova said. <\/p>\n

The Ikenobo Institute branch has been working in former Soviet states for over 15 years by now. The Head of its Moldova country branch took lessons from Yamada Midori, a renowned Japanese maestro who had worked for Ikenobo Institute for over 17 years. <\/p>\n

The Moldovan branch was established 7 years ago. Presently, it has about 2 dozen students, including men, who are convinced that Ikebana helps each person to achieve an internal and external harmony that positively tells on the person’s entire life. <\/p>\n

The Ikebana exhibition in Chisinau became a reality also thank to the valuable assistance rendered by the Japanese Embassy to Moldova. As the tradition goes, each autumn Chisinau welcomes an Ikenobo Institute professor who gives Ikebana lessons from a theater stage to all those who love the ancient Japanese art.
