More than 2,700 gymnasium graduates have failed the mathematics examination, while over 6,600 students have received the marks 9 and 10, according to sources in the Ministry of Education. <\/p>\n

Ion Spinei, chief of the pre-university education assessment directorate in the Ministry of Education, has told BASA that 4 percent out of 55,000 tested gymnasium graduates have failed the Romanian language, while another 12 percent got the highest marks. <\/p>\n

According to Spinei, only 2 percent of students from non-Romanian schools have failed the Romanian language examination, while another 13 percent received the marks 9 and 10. Gymnasium graduates registered the best results at physics, as more than 11,000 candidates have received high marks. <\/p>\n

Spinei noted that a repeat session will be organised between July 1 and 10 for students who failed the examinations. "Those who were rated low marks and want to continue their studies will have to choose a vocational school because requirements for admission at lycees are very high," Spinei added. <\/p>\n

Contacted by BASA, Nicolae Stratulat, director of the lycee Stefan cel Mare, said that only the students who have been rated a higher mark than 8.2 during academic years and at examinations out of 156 promoters of the 9th grade will be admitted. Students from other educational institutions will be admitted only if they are rated a higher mark than 9. <\/p>\n
