The state-owned railway company CFM has blocked the traffic of goods on the railway section Cuciurgan-Bender\/Tighina, after the Transnistrian authorities held three transit trains at the Bender station. <\/p>\n

"The Transnistrian authorities held three transit trains in Bender early on March 5 without any reason, including a Russian trainload transporting ores to the Reni port and two trainloads from the CIS crossing Cuciurgan to the destination states," the CFM administration has said. <\/p>\n

As a result of these measures, CFM suspends temporarily the traffic of transit cargo trains on the Cuciurgan-Bender section. "The traffic will be resumed immediately after the Transnistrian authorities withdraw the obstacles," said CFM, noting that international transportation structures have been notified in this regard. <\/p>\n

At the sane time, CFM says that the railways Galati (Romania) – Reni (Ukraine) – Cainari – Revaca – Ocnita – Mogilev Podolsky are functional. "The transportation will be redirected to the north of the republic, if needed," CFM underlined. <\/p>\n

The situation regarding the railway transportation has worsened after Ukraine reinforced on March 3 a Kiev-Chisinau agreement on exportation from Transnistria on basis of Moldova’s specimens only. <\/p>\n

Tiraspol has accused Chisinau and Kiev of "economic blockade" while the Moldovan authorities have earlier approved measures aimed to facilitate the registration of the Transnistria-based businesses. <\/p>\n

A similar tense situation in the railway sector was registered in August 2004, after Transnistria has seized the control on railroads of Moldova and the CFM branch in the region. The Tiraspol authorities had blocked then the traffic of transit trains for a couple of days. <\/p>\n

This made Chisinau build the railroad Revaca-Cainari, which links the south and the north of Moldova by surrounding the Transnistrian territory.
