A two-month-long campaign named "Our Romanian Book for All Days" is continuing in the neighbor country, in which frame over 53 thousand books have already been raised for the pupils of Moldovan schools in Transnistria that use the Latin script at teaching. <\/p>\n

The Eastern European International Help association of Bucharest told Infotag the campaign has been organized with assistance rendered by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Sciences, the Iasi Judet School Inspectorate, and the National Museum of the Romanian Literature. <\/p>\n

A majority of the donations are school textbooks in the Romanian language, and the rest are fiction. Over 45 thousand of them have been collected by the residents of the Iasi judet situated across the Prut border river. <\/p>\n

In Transnistria, there are 8 Romanian-language schools working under Chisinau’s jurisdiction, financed by the Moldovan Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and providing secondary education to nearly 5 thousand Transnistrians who are ethnic Moldovans. <\/p>\n

In July 2004, the Transnistrian authorities shut down 6 of these schools on the pretext that they have to get registered in accordance with the Transnistrian legislation and to bring their curriculums in harmony with the region’s education requirements. It was only through the interference of international organizations several months later that the Transnistrian ministry of education reluctantly registered the Moldovan schools in accordance with local regulations, and they could at last commence a new academic year. \/\/ Infotag<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
