Chisinau Acting Mayor Vasile Ursu did not permit to the Termocom municipal heating\/hot-water distribution company to embark on the Monday-scheduled cutting of the central heating supply to multistory apartment houses having heavy arrears. He said the city gives one more week – the last chance for debtors to clear their arrears and to live in warm homes until spring. <\/p>\n

However, Termocom Director General Dionisie Antocel stated today the enterprise can not wait. Only a few days are left until March when Termocom must effect its next payment for gas, and if no money is available on its bank account by then, the whole city may be left without central heating. <\/p>\n

At the moment, there are 86 multistory apartment houses in Chisinau which have been enjoying their winter living without practically paying anything for heating yet since the season beginning last November 1. So, in a week, these may lose their heating supply should no payments be made urgently. <\/p>\n

On the whole, the level of payments for Termocom services has by now grown up to 58.6%.
