Although the Law on MinimalMedical Assistance Guaranteed by State has been already adopted bythe parliament, it is not applicable because of the deficit offunds in medical units, a senior physician was quoted as saying bythe Flux paper Thursday.<\/p>\n

Petru Stratulat, ad-interim director of the Research Institute ofMother and Child Care, said in the interview that at least 6million lei would be necessary for minimal assistance at theinstitute alone, the Finance Ministry allocated only 1 million.<\/p>\n

The institution owes money towards suppliers of medication, food,heating and electricity. "The Finance Ministry keeps on tellingus: if you don’t have money to feed children, send them home,"Stratulat added.<\/p>\n

The little money collected in charges for medical services has topass the Treasury, which is a defective and slow system, hespecified.<\/p>\n

He also expressed concerns about a study showing that most of thechildren in Moldova suffer from feebleness because of theundernutrition.
