\"\"The Emergency Situations Department (ESD) is concerned about the considerable rise in the number of fires that broke out in the days of severe frost. From the beginning of January the number of fires has increased by 69 percent compared with the similar period last year. <\/p>\n

Sergiu Slovineanu, deputy head of the ESD Firemen and Rescuers Division, Tuesday told a press conference that about 5-6 fires break out in the days with a high temperature, but starting 19 January the number of fires breaking out each day amounts to 24. As many as 229 fires broke out this year. Thirty-eight people died, including a nine-year-old child. <\/p>\n

The most frequent causes of a fire remain the excessive heating of the stoves and the neglecting of the distance between the heating appliances and the places were people sleep. <\/p>\n
