A new audiovisual law will be drafted and adopted in the first reading at the spring-summer session of the parliament, Speaker Lupu told a festive sitting on Friday, January 13, on occasion of the 10th anniversary of the electronic media watchdog CCA of Moldova. <\/p>\n

The speaker said that the new audiovisual law will be adopted in the first reading at the spring-summer session, and the opinion of civil society will be solicited later. "Finally, the law will be delivered to the Council of Europe for expertise," Lupu added. <\/p>\n

CCA chairman Ion Mihailo told the same sitting that CCA has contributed to development of domestic audiovisual in ten years and, as a result, "about 40 radio channels, 36 television channels and 160 wire television operators function in Moldova at present." <\/p>\n

The CCA members elected for the next mandate "must work with a law based on recommendations of the Council of Europe, be professionals in the area and not repeat our mistakes," he added. <\/p>\n

Taking part in the festive sitting of CCA were also the chairman of the European Platform of Audiovisual Regulation Authorities (EPRA), deputy chairman of the Romanian National Council of Audiovisual, chairman of the parliamentary commission for culture, science, education, youth, sport and mass media, CCA founders, public functionaries and representatives of audiovisual organisations. <\/p>\n
