MPs today adopted the draft law on the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova. <\/p>\n

The law regulates the social relations in the field of protection, use and restoration of species of plants and animals which are rare or on the verge of extension, and wich are included in the Red Book, in order to prevent their disappearance and to assure the conservation of their genetic fund. <\/p>\n

Earlier, Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Constantin Mihailescu has explained the need in the law by the fact that there is no juridical regulation on the inclusion or exclusion of species in\/from the Red Book, on the setting up of the National Commission for Red Book’s Elaboration, on ways to finance the works’ printing, etc. <\/p>\n

Under the law, the National Commission of the Red Book has the status of consultative body working on public means. The commission will be made up of 15 members, representing the Moldovan Academy of Science, other scientific institutions, central authorities in charge of natural resources’ management and environment’s protection, etc. <\/p>\n

The law is mainly aimed at assuring the right on property over animals and plants included in the Red Book. The law also sees the Red Book’s state administration, regulation and control, the use and restoration of the book’s items. <\/p>\n
