Head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Slutu told REPORTER.MD that two cars of “Skoda-Octavia” and “Mercedes” makes have been smuggled from Ukraine through the customs post Lipcani, Briceni district. Ruslan Baturovschi, 34, inhabitant of Bratusenii Vechi village, Edinet district, and Alexandru Spian, 29, inhabitant of Chisinau municipality, were driving the two cars. <\/p>\n

According to Slutu, the two drivers aroused suspicion when they refused to stop at the request of the police. <\/p>\n

The two cars were stopped and escorted to the Briceni Police Commissariat. In the “Mercedes”, the police discovered a false registration document, incompleted “Asito” insurance certificates and a packet of cigarettes containing light drugs. <\/p>\n

The police ascertained that the “Skoda” was announced wanted by the Ukrainian police having been stolen on November 10 in Kiev. The police have also discovered that the customs officer Vitalie Juc had helped the two men pass the cars illegally to Moldova. <\/p>\n

The three persons are under arrest. Criminal proceedings have been initiated on the basis of article 248 of the Penal Code (smuggling).
