The National Army of Moldova will receive non-repayable assistance from the Government of the People’s Republic of China. It includes equipment worth about 3 000 000 Yuan (over 370,000 US dollars). The aid will be offered on the basis of the Technical Assistance Agreement signed this week by the Defense Minister, Valeriu Plesca, and his Chinese counterpart, Cao Gangchuan, in Beijing. <\/p>\n

Valeriu Rusu, spokesman for the Defense Ministry, told REPORTER.MD that during the meeting the two ministers discussed issues related to the bilateral military cooperation and the prospects of extension in future. <\/p>\n

The two officials exchanged opinions as regards the international and regional security, reform of military institutions of China and Moldova and identified the fields of cooperation. <\/p>\n

According to General Cao Gangchuan, China will offer scholarships for training the Moldovan officers in military academies in line with the necessities of the Moldovan Defense Ministry. Also, the Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China will assist the National Army in implementing different projects that form part of the military reform. <\/p>\n
