The court decided on Thursday, November 17, to release the secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Vladimir Sarban, and to investigate him at large. <\/p>\n

The court took this decision after defendant Sarban has asked the replacement of arrest at home by investigation at large, with the condition not to leave the country and to be lifted from his passport. Sarban said that he cannot take a treatment and com municate with closest people, if he is held at home, so that his rights of citizens are violated. <\/p>\n

Alexandru Tanase, lawyer of Vladimir Sarban at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), said that the court ruling is real and legal, and he would appeal to the ECHR if the national court did not pass a decision in favour of his client. <\/p>\n

The Centre for the Struggle Against Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC) held the CMC secretary on November 19 and suspected him of misuse of authority and issuing illegal construction authorisations in favour of a Chisinau-based firm.
