According to Scoferta, the number of flu patients this year should not be higher than in 2004, but no exact forecast can be released. <\/p>\n<p>He underlined that statistics for 2005 is similar to data for 2004, as doctors registered 8,353 flu patients in the first half of this year, a similar number with last year. Scoferta stressed that the anti-flu vaccine is a solution against flu epidemic. He noted that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has solicited 42,000 doses of anti-viral vaccine this year, by 7,000 doses more than in 2004. &quot;All doctors will be vaccinated for free this year, while the population will have to buy the vaccine ,&quot; he added. <\/p>\n<p>Asked if the Moldovan population has purchased more doses of anti-flu vaccine this year than in 2004 in a move to prevent a bird flu infection, Scoferta said that such a statistic does not exist, because anti-flu vaccines are unavailable for sale so far and pharmacies will receive them in early November. <\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, sources in municipal pharmacies stated to BASA under condition to remain anonymous that pharmacies acquire this vaccine for more than one month. &quot;The vaccine is sold this year very rapidly, and a pharmacy sells 30-50 doses a day, while owners have to renew their stocks every day,&rdquo; a doctor said. Health centres in Chisinau hold the anti-flu vaccine while family doctors invite all patients to buy it. <\/p>\n<p>An anti-flu vaccine costs about 80-100 lei.
