A UNICEF mission spoke out for thecreation of a social protection government body in Moldova, whichwill include the current dispersed services among many ministries.<\/p>\n

Because of the lack of such a body, the family’s and child’s socialprotection has been neglected in Moldova, said Catalin Zamfir,chairman of Life’s Quality Research Institute of Romania and ElenaZamfir, professor, chief of Social Assistance Department of theBucharest University.<\/p>\n

The evaluation mission is part of the assistance granted by theUNICEF to the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry towork out the National Strategy of Family and Child Protection, arelease notes.<\/p>\n

According to some UNICEF experts’ conclusions, the capacity ofpreventing the children’s abandonment "does not exist practically"in Moldova. The elements of the same social problem are theresponsibility of different public organs. The social protection ofchildren in difficult situations is divided, for example, betweenthree ministries.
