Moldova has lost a new case at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Lawyer Vlad Gribincea told REPORTER.MD that ECHR passed judgment on the case of Daniliuc versus Moldova on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Ecaterina Daniliuc, resident of Costesti village, Ialoveni district, submitted the case to the Court in Strasbourg on 19 November 1997, seeking the recognition of the violation by Moldova of her right to a fair trail and of the right to the protection of private property. The respective infringements are related to the non-execution of a ruling from September 1996, through which the Ialoveni National Council was to pay the petitioner damages totaling 675 lei for some illegal actions committed by the Council. <\/p>\n

ECHR admitted the violation of Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights and of Article 1.1 of the Additional Protocol to the Convention and obliged Moldova to pay the petitioner material damages totaling 100 euros and moral damages valued at 1,000 euros. The ECHR judgment is not final. It can be appealed against in the Grand Chamber of the Court within three months. <\/p>\n
