The issue regarding the rise in tariffs for minibus travels and the report on the situation created in urban passenger transport drawn up by the special commission will be examined at the next meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). <\/p>\n

The proposal to putt off the examination of the issue was forwarded by the interim mayor of the capital Vasile Ursu, the decision being passed by 42 votes of 45. <\/p>\n

According to Ursu, time is needed to reach a consensus and to avoid the tensions before the City’s Day which is marked on October 14. <\/p>\n

Municipal councilor, Ion Mamaliga, chairman of Private Transporters Association, told the press that councilors’ decision does not suit the private transporters. It was clear from the very beginning of the meting that the councilors wanted to exclude the respective issue from the agenda, Mamaliga told. <\/p>\n

He said that the minibus drivers and owners will not stage protests until the special commission presents the report to the Municipal Council in order not to create inconveniences on the City’s Day. <\/p>\n
