"Some cars will take their places in Chisinau immediately upon arrival from a similar exhibition in Frankfurt [Germany], said Arcadie Andronic, manager of the organising firm, Poliproject Exhibitions. The event will cover a record area: 7,000 square metres, with organisers expecting between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors. <\/p>\n

The exhibition will feature the models that are new for the Moldovan market: BMW-M6, Mazda RX-8, Nissan Z350, Volkswagen Passat-B6, Citroen C-4, Porsche Boxter, Mercedes Benz S, Lexus GS 300. Trucks and accessories of the car industry will be presented, too. <\/p>\n

"The car market in Moldova is on continuing rise, the access to automobiles is getting easier, importers sell cars in credit or leasing," said Victor Miculet, chairman of the Moldovan association of auto importers and manager of Auto Space, the BMW’s dealer in Moldova. <\/p>\n

Miculet told Basa that sales of new cars in Moldova would rise by 16 percent in 2005. The demand remains highest for Russian VAZs, which are cheaper, but Western manufacturers are gaining ground. The most expensive BMW automobile sold in Moldova for more than 120,000 euros. <\/p>\n

There are 11 firms in Moldova that import a total of 25 car trademarks. <\/p>\n
