Moldova will invite Israeli specialists to help work out a new aeronautic security concept, in a move to strengthen its flights security and to optimise passenger service, a press release from the presidential administration reads. <\/p>\n

President Vladimir Voronin has advised Moldovan air transport officials who gathered in his official residence to learn the experience of Israel in the area, saying that the Jewish state is regarded as one that has enforced the strictest flights security criteria in the world. <\/p>\n

Moldova has to draft an aeronautic security concept by January 2006. The chief of state urged that all litigations existing now between the Chisinau international airport, which is state-owned, and other companies operating within the airport zone be settled by that date. <\/p>\n

The document will envisage measures of organisational and legislative nature aimed at enhancing the country’s civil aviation security, by improving the technical endowment, by training personnel, and by implementing new technologies among others. <\/p>\n

The president stated that the Chisinau airport must brace out for the modern international standards in the civil aviation sector, if it wanted to keep its status of an international venue. <\/p>\n

At the end of August 2004, the Supreme Security Council reported to the president "existence of severe irregularities as regards the flights security," a reason for which Mr. Voronin ordered that a number of top officials in the State Administration of Civil Aviation, the police services and the airport be fired.
