Two representatives of the Republic of Moldova were field to the Nobel Peace Prize by International Organization “1000 Women for Peace”. <\/p>\n

“1000 Women for Peace” Organization was founded on the initiative of the Swiss parliamentarian, member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Gaby Vermot-Mangold, who addressed to the Norwegian Nobel Committee with the proposal to offer the Nobel Peace Prize concomitantly to one thousand women that would represent all the countries of the world. <\/p>\n

Moldova has fielded five candidates, of who two were selected: well-known professor, Cleopatra Vonorovschi and Ala Nemerenco, director of the University Clinic of Primary Medical Assistance of State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “N.Testemiteanu”. <\/p>\n

Famous professor Cleopatra Vonorovschi, recently died at the age of 94, had passed through the terrible ordeal of the totalitarian regimes, being hindered to do her profession, although she graduated the University of Bucharest with Magna cum Laude. Thanks to her insistence, succeeded in educating thousands of children, both in Moldova, and in Asia, where she took refugee during the war. Disciples of Cleopatra Vonorovschi are great personalities of public life, functionaries, teachers and writers from Moldova. <\/p>\n

Doctor Ala Nemerenco is known and appreciated in the medical world for her devotion to her work, she implementing in Moldova principles and exceptional methods of organizing a medical service. <\/p>\n

Nemerenco stated on Wednesday at a press conference that, if the Organization "1000 Women for Peace" becomes the laureate of the Nobel Price, she will allocate the money in programs for women’s health, “who are very ill in our country” and in programs for counteracting violence in the family, “victims being mostly women and children.” <\/p>\n

“1000 Women for Peace” Organization has selected one thousand names of those over 2000 dossiers submitted, from about 150 countries in the world.
