The International Association for Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists from the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (INTAS) will furnish a million euros to Moldovan researchers for working out and implementation of joint scientific projects, it was announced today at an international symposium on Moldova-INTAS cooperation, organized by the Moldovan Academy of Sciences. The forum gathered nearly 200 scientists from 18 European countries. <\/p>\n

Academy Vice-President Ion Tighineanu said that the symposium is certainly a great event for Moldova scientists who, for lack of funding, cannot travel to many international sessions. Fortunately, their foreign colleagues have come to Chisinau themselves. So, search of partners for joint researches and, possibly, obtaining of grants has become much easier to do. <\/p>\n

The above-mentioned financing will be for projects in the fields of biotechnologies, nanno-technologies, molecular biology, bio-medicine. Besides this, young researchers aged under 35 may count on INTAS scholarships and 6-12-month-long clinics in European scientific centers, Tighineanu said. <\/p>\n

He is convinced cooperation with INTAS is extremely for Moldova, as this offers local scientists possibilities to partake in international programs. <\/p>\n
