In 50 years, Moldova could remain without chernozyoms, if urgent measures for combating desertification and erosion are not taken. <\/p>\n

According to minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Constantin Mihailescu, the process of enriching the soil is very difficult, because the lands are divided and are in private property. Mihailescu declared Friday at a press conference, dedicated to the World Day to Combat Desertification, that the only way to overcome the situation is to inform people about the danger of soil desertification and erosion. <\/p>\n

According to the specialists’ estimations, at moment, in Moldova there are eroded about 40-60% of lands, or over 750 Th. ha, and other over 100 Th. ha – extremely eroded. Because of erosion, 26mln. tonnes of fertile soil and 600 Th. tonnes of humus are damaged annually. <\/p>\n

The reestablishment of the damaged soil can be obtained by adding chemical, mineral and organic fertilizers. If in 1990-1991, there were added to soil by 180-190 Th. tonnes of mineral fertilizers, at present they are used in amount not larger than 8-9 Th. tonnes, and those organic are mostly thrown on the banks of rivers and cliffs, in forest strips and at the edge of roads. <\/p>\n

The largest areas that are subjected to active landslides are in Hancesti (2314 ha), Calarasi (2018 ha), Ungheni (1554 ha), Telenesti (1071 ha), Soroca (766 ha), Glodeni (471 ha), Rascani (345 ha). \/\/ REPORTER.MD<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
