\"\"Birth rate has increased in Moldova in the first four months of 2005, amounting to more than 12,000 new-born, up by 160 against the same period of 2004, according to data put out by the Health and Social Protection Ministry. <\/p>\n

The highest birth rates were registered in the Chisinau and Balti (Moldova’s second largest city) municipalities, the districts of Calarasi, Dubasari and Leova. At the same time, the birth rate declined in 15 districts, among which Cimislia, Causeni, Orhei and Soroca. <\/p>\n

The general death rate increased on the same period. About 16,500 persons died in the first four months of 2005, up by 800 against the same period last year. The highest general death rate has been registered in the districts of Donduseni, Floresti and Rezina. <\/p>\n

The Health Ministry’s data also show that since early 2005, there has been a low infant rate mortality. As many as 135 children died in the period, less by 23 children against the first four months of 2004. <\/p>\n

Over the first four months of 2005, the country’s population natural growth was negative throughout Moldova, except for the Chisinau municipality.
