\nToday it is 13 years since Andrei Ivantoc and Tudor Petrov Popa are being held illegally in jails in Tiraspol and one year since Alexandru Lesco, another member of the so-called "Ilascu Group", was set free. <\/p>\n

Andrei Ivantoc and Tudor Petrov Popa continue being hostages of the illegal Tiraspolean regime, despite the decision of the European Court of Human Rights that condemned Moldova and Russia in Ilascu trial and required their immediate and unconditional release. <\/p>\n

In despair, prisoners’ relatives asked the Romanian state for support in setting the two detainees free, addressing an appeal to the President of Romania Traian Basescu. <\/p>\n

“We put all the trust in you and we know that you always keep in mind the great problem of Transdniestria. We hope you want to help us feel the happy moment of truth and reunion. We think you are ready to apply all the forces the Romanian leadership has at its disposal and help us settle for good this case and release Andrei and Tudor. We considered Romania’s actions taken in the case of the journalists and we understood that you did a great and noble thing. We have even greater hopes, because Andrei and Tudor aren’t arrested in Iraq, but in Moldova,” reads the letter addressed by Eudochia Ivantoc to the Romanian President Traian Basescu. <\/p>\n
