The Jewish organizations and communities of Moldova held a mourning rally in Chisinau to venerate the memory of Holocaust victims. The event was attended also by the representatives of Moldovan central and local authorities, foreign diplomatic missions. All the participants laid flowers to the monument to the Chisinau Jewish ghetto victims.<\/p>\n

]Teodor Magder, The Executive Director of the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities, said that May 6 is marked annually as the Day of Catastrophe and Heroism: "On that day many years ago, thousands of innocent people sacrificed their lives in the territories of Moldova, Bukovina and Transnistria. Those people, whose memory we venerated today, will eternally live in our hearts and thoughts". <\/p>\n

MP Victor Stepaniuk (MCP), Chairman of the parliamentary Standing Committee for Culture, Sciences, Education, Youth Affairs and the Mass Media, voiced hope that the Moldovan authorities will introduce necessary changes in the education program and textbooks so that senior schoolchildren could study the history of the Holocaust and its aftermath. <\/p>\n
