Special mission performed by law enforcement bodies in the Isolator for Preventive Detention nr.3 from the capital resulted in tracing, in detainees� cells, narcotic substances, mobile telephones and modern audio-video equipment.<\/p>\n

Head of the General Staff within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Serghei Golovaci told Friday a press conference that the special operation was organized by MIA in concert with General Prosecutor�s Office and Ministry of Justice for checking the convicts� detention regime. <\/p>\n

The Quoted source mentioned that upon selective verification of several rooms from the mentioned institution, there were traced mobile telephones, medicaments with hallucinating effect, syringes with narcotic substances, hempen seeds, blades, different models of knives, alcohol and other forbidden objects. <\/p>\n

In the same context, Golovaci communicated that in the cells in which the criminal leaders �Malhaz�, �Machena� and �Schet" are detained, there was tracked down modern TV and audio equipment, also forbidden in the penitentiary institutions. <\/p>\n

At the same time, other 15 mobile telephones, narcotic substances and a non-registered pistol of �Mauser� model were found in the administrative block of the prison. <\/p>\n

Head of the General Staff specified that the possession of mobile telephones by convicts, �influents and tergiversates the criminal investigation, through the conversations carried out between convicts and lawyers, or their friends that are free.� <\/p>\n

�In this context, a rigorous control was also made at the Isolators from Cahul and Balti municipalities, then it is planned the control of all the penitentiary institutions from the country," noted the cited source. <\/p>\n

Vice director of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, Veaceslav Toncoglaz, stated that "the administration of the Isolator for Preventive Detention was suspended." <\/p>\n

Toncoglaz specified that the detainees of the mentioned Isolator "are periodically checked, and the forbidden objects are confiscated. But they appear again by means of the parcels sent by close friends." <\/p>\n
