National Weightlifting Team of Moldova took the 14-th position in the European Championship that took place in Sofia (Bulgaria). Only two Moldovan sportsmen, Igor Grabucea and Ghenadie Grosu, took part in the competition, both taking the 6th position. Igor Grabucea (56 kg weight category) lifted 245 kg (110 kg in "snatch" and 135 kg in "clean and jerk"). Ghenadie Grosu (77 kg) made his debut at a competition of such a ranking. He won final B with the result of 315 kg (145 kg in "snatch" and 170 kg in "clean and jerk").<\/p>\n

Only five weightlifters of final A outran this result, the Moldovan weightlifter taking the 6th position. Leaders of the national team – Vadim Vacarciuc (Balti) and Alexandru and Eugen Bratan (Cahul) didn�t perform at the current edition of the European Championship for different reasons.
