Members and supporters of NGO Hyde Park are “surprised” by the suspension of “Vox populi” program broadcasted by “Antena C” municipal radio station. <\/p>\n

According to a declaration released to REPORTER.MD Agency, “the decision to stop the program for a period of time was taken by presenter Ion Enachi unilaterally, without consulting the public – co-producers of the interactive program from Friday and Saturday night, who are also tax payers of this public radio station.” <\/p>\n

In this context, the authors of the declaration consider “groundless and irresponsible” the references to the restrictions from the Electoral Code as justification of the suppression of the right to opinion and ask for the urgent rehabilitation of “the single program of free expression of the citizens, as being one of their rights guaranteed by the supreme state law.” <\/p>\n

NGO Hyde Park seeks from the administration of “Antena C” radio station the extension of the broadcast hours of the interactive programs, and also the broadcasting of these programs at hours that are convenient for all the categories of listeners. At the same time, the Broadcasting Coordinating Council and Central Electoral Commission are asked to pronounce themselves on the created situation and “to explain the TV and radio license holders that during the electoral campaign it is not necessary and not even recommended to limit the freedom of citizens’ expression.” <\/p>\n

Asked by REPORTER.MD, Vasile Stati, director of the municipal radio station "Antena C" mentioned that the decision to suspend the program "Vox populi" was taken by the staff members of the Administration Council “with a view to the impartial and equidistant reflecting of the elections from 6 March and simultaneously, for preventing the violation of the electoral legislation in force.” Stati specified that this program and other programs are suspended for the period of the electoral campaign. “In such a way we will avoid the appearance of partisanship messages in favor or disfavor of a certain electoral opponent during the programs of "Antena C" radio station,” stated Vasile Stati. \/Reporter.md\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
