The year of 2014 must be the one to say honestly and openly that Moldova is Romanian land. The statement was made by Romanian President, Traian Basescu on Tuesday night in Predeal, where he celebrated with family the New Year, informs Agerpres.<\/p>\n

"I would really like not just a few politicians, but also Romanians to think about our future relationship with the Republic of Moldova", the Romanian President said.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Traian Basescu said that it should be honestly mentioned that Moldova was not born with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact", but it has a history, a culture, a language, which all are related to Romania and the Romanian people”.<\/p>\n

We recall that Romanian President Traian Basescu made several times pro-union statements.<\/p>\n

Thus, on November 27th, he stated for TVR television that the next major project for Romania, after the entry into NATO and the European Union must be union with Moldova. "I am convinced that if there will be a unionist movement in Moldova, Romania will say "yes" without hesitation", Romanian President said.<\/p>\n

"When a nation has the occasion to be united, it will not give up. I do not count on politicians, all my action related to the Republic of Moldova has been linked to the idea that we may unite. I know that it’s not the time now, but this will happen because blood is thicker than water", Traian Basescu affirmed.<\/p>\n

Romanian President Traian Basescu said also for B1 television that after he leaves office, unification with Moldova will be "one of the projects" he would invest his "resources".<\/p>\n

"It will be one of the projects to invest my resources after leaving office, because I believe in this. And I believe Romania needs Moldova and Moldova needs Romania to move forward faster and more secure on its European path. I am not ashamed of what I said and I do not mind even if a politician or another says that by these statements we strengthen the communist power in Chisinau.<\/p>\n

\nIn this context, Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that unification with Romania is not on Moldova’s agenda and that the country needs external messages to strengthen the society and not to divide it.<\/p>\n
