Foreign Minister of Lithuania, Linas Linkevi\u010dius, thinks that our country has a real chance to achieve visa free regime with the EU. The statement was made during a meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister, Iurie Leanca. At the same time, he reiterated full support of Lithuania for Moldova’s European path.<\/p>\n

Moldovan Premier appreciated the fact that Lithuania actively supports our country in its European path, strongly promoting the enlargement of the European Union. In context, it was stressed the importance of the Eastern Partnership Summit, which will take place in late November in Vilnius.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that Moldova’s objective is to ensure a sufficient level of achievement of the Action Plan for visa liberalization, so that the European Commission could state the completion of the second phase of dialogue on visas at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius and recommend to Member States a visa-free regime for Moldovan citizens. The Head of the Government accentuated that this relies on the support of Lithuania, which now holds the presidency of the EU Council.<\/p>\n

The two officials discussed as well the issue of bilateral economic cooperation. Iurie Leanca appreciated that the Lithuanian Government maintains Moldova among the seven priority countries for foreign assistance.<\/p>\n

In turn, Linas Linkevi\u010dius mentioned the need of a first Lithuanian investment, such as, for example, processing of agricultural products, which would attract further investment due to a positive example.<\/p>\n

The Lithuanian side proposed that a delegation of businessmen, headed by the Vilnius Prime Minister, to visit Moldova in the first half of next year.
