Moldova’s German partners are seeking for more hard work when it comes to the implementation of reforms, said Matthias Meyer, the German Ambassador to Moldova in an exclusive interview<\/a> with Moldova.ORG.<\/p>\n

“The European path is difficult, but one should understand that there are many changes in society and one should not waste time,” the Ambassador said.<\/p>\n

According to him, corruption is Moldova’s main issue.<\/p>\n

“Without an efficient fight against corruption one cannot move forward,” Mr. Meyer said.<\/p>\n

He maintains that the people need a better understanding of the benefits of being part of the European Union. The Ambassador urges the Government officials to avoid pursuing their own interests, but rather focus on how society should benefit from the EU.<\/p>\n

“The European Union is something new for the Republic of Moldova and it can generate some social benefits. The political elites should think about how to bring these advantages closer to the people,” the German Ambassador explained.<\/p>\n

He continued, saying that the investment framework needs to be further developed in order to increase the quality of life in Moldova.<\/p>\n
