The European Parliament will have its say on the pressure exercised by Russia on countries of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) amidst concluding agreements at the upcoming EaP Summit that is planned for the end of November in Vilnius, Lithuania.<\/p>\n

The Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will formulate their official position next Wednesday, September 11 in a session of debates on topics about situation in Syria, Egypt, as well as EU’s internal security strategy.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the MEPs will assess their relations with the Russian Federation, EU policy towards Belarus and other aspects of the European neighborhood policy.<\/p>\n

The debate will begin around 2:30 PM (GTM +1).<\/p>\n

Russia has warned Moldova and Ukraine that in case they will sign any agreements with the European Union, this may damage their economic relations. Moldova has already been threatened by Kremlin with embargos and cuts in natural gas in the run-up of winter 2013. Ukraine was denied several products on the Russian market. However, the exports have resumed recently.<\/p>\n

Armenia, another Eastern Partnership country, announced at the beginning of the week that it is of their national interest to join the Russia-led Eurasian Union. The country has spent almost two years carrying out negotiations over the Association Agreement and visa-free travel regime with the European Union.
