Sweden wants to see Moldova an integrative part of EU’s Free Trade Area and have a visa-free regime, but the country has to fulfill the requirements for these achievements.<\/p>\n

In a briefing in Chisinau on Monday, the Swedish speaker of Parliament, Per Westerberg said that meeting all the necessary criteria “is possible in the near future.” He emphasized that the Free Trade Area will open up borders and offer better employment and integration opportunities.<\/p>\n

“There will be a free trade agreement for Moldova with the EU,” Per Westerberg said.<\/p>\n

The Swedish official’s visit to Chisinau concludes an assistance programme for Moldova of democratic parliamentarism consolidation.<\/p>\n

According to the Moldovan speaker, Igor Corman, Sweden is among the top European countries which have significantly supported Moldovan financially.<\/p>\n

Over 32 million Euro have been granted by the Swedish Government for the development of 16 projects in Moldova.<\/p>\n

Per Westerberg suggests that a summit of speakers originating from eight North-Baltic countries might be organized in Chisinau in the near future. Igor Corman said the date of this summit is yet to be arranged with the Parliaments of the respective countries.<\/p>\n
