The United States of America is a strong supporter of Moldova’s democratic aspirations by getting closer to the European Union standards. The statement was made by the Secretary of State John Kerry a few days ahead of Moldova’s Independence Day, which will be marked on August 27.<\/p>\n

“The United States supports the aspirations of the Moldovan people for a prosperous and stable democracy,” John Kerry said.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to the conclusion of an EU Association Agreement at the Eastern Partnership Summit in November, which will promote political and economic reform and increase opportunities for the Moldovan people.”<\/p>\n

The same statement adds that the US seeks “a negotiated, peaceful settlement” of the Transnistrian conflict that “ensures Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” The head of the US diplomacy believes that Transnistria should be provided a special status within the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the Independence Day, the US official urges the Moldovans to cooperate with each other and work hard to achieve their goals.<\/p>\n
