The European Union advised the Moldovan leadership “to address without any hesitation the serious institutional problems” which have emerged during the recently overcome political crisis. EU suggests that Moldova should further cooperate with the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission to make sure the political system is in line with the democratic principles.<\/p>\n

EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Stefan Fule said Moldova still has four challenges to tackle. He referred to the state institutions which need to focus on internal reforms and strengthen transparency in their activity.<\/p>\n

Another recommendation is linked to the “systemic checks and balances aiming at preventing the misuse of the institutions for political purposes are designed with relevant international assistance.”<\/p>\n

Media landscape in Moldova is another issue which needs to be addressed. Commissioner Fule said further transparency is media ownership is needed to “ensure a pluralistic, diversified and high-quality media landscape.”<\/p>\n

The EU official said that these concerns are essential for Moldova’s democratic future and that the Union is ready to help the country achieve its goals both financially and politically.<\/p>\n

Moldova is looking optimistically forward towards the Eastern Partnership Summit which is due to take place in Vilnius in November. The country is expected to initial the Association Agreement with the European Union, a project that will enhance and ease the economic ties between sides.<\/p>\n
