According to him, &ldquo;a robust system of checks and balances needs to be put in place to prevent the state institutions to take partisan sides in period of political tensions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">His second recommendation was related to the need of tackling corruption &ldquo;in earnest and at all levels.&rdquo; The EU official suggested that media has to be carefully monitored and the authorities should assure a pluralistic, diversified landscape of mass-media outlets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;The role of the public broadcaster is key,&rdquo; Stefan Fule stressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">His last recommendation is referring to the political inclusiveness of the decision-making process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;In any democratic society, the political opposition has a constructive role to play to improve governance. I hope that Prime Minister Leanca&#8217;s calls on the opposition to play ball with the government in governing the country will be heard,&rdquo; the European Commissioner said. He added that it is essential to overcome the polarization of society and make sure all opinions are respected in the framework of the public debates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;Last but not least,&rdquo; he said, &ldquo;the needs of the citizens should be in the centre of attention.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Moldova is expected to initial and sign several agreements with the European Union which will enhance the economic relations between sides and establish a free movement of citizens within the Schengen zone.
