Evgheny Shevchuk, the so-called president of Transnistria issued on June 10 the &ldquo;Law regarding the state border of Transnistria.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to the bill, the separatist region will cover some towns and villages which are currently under the legitimate authorities of Moldova. The document affirms that &ldquo;the state border cannot be modified unilaterally by neighboring countries.&rdquo; The illegitimate structures based in Tiraspol said they will take any action necessary to defend the border when the &ldquo;state&rdquo; security is at stake.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Authorities in Chisinau do not see with good eyes the latest developments in the region. Moldovan President, Nicolae Timofti criticized the decision taken by the separatists, saying that he will never recognize the so-called law on state border of Transnistria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;The issue is being always monitored by our state,&rdquo; the President said. &ldquo;I will never recognize the law regarding the border of the Transnistrian region.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Moldovan head of state claimed that Tiraspol&rsquo;s actions are meant to destabilize the situation in Moldova, especially before EU&rsquo;s Eastern Partnership Summit that is due to take place in November 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;Someone seeks to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova. When Moldova reaches its own levels of problem-solving mechanisms, such as the EU integration, provocative situations emerge,&rdquo; Nicolae Timofti pointed out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Government of Moldova said the decision conflicts with both the judicial framework and the logic of Transnistrian conflict resolution, and the real needs and interests of the population on both banks of the Nistru River.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&ldquo;Such actions clearly prove the existence of some hidden interests which are different from those shared by the Government in Chisinau and the entire international community &ndash; peaceful settlement of conflict by establishing a special status of the Transnistrian region as a component of Moldova &ndash; a sovereign state with territorial integrity,&rdquo; the Moldovan Government said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The separatist authorities tried to hinder any positive evolutions on the Chisinau-Tiraspol axis in the past few months. Several clashes have been registered on April 26-27, when the Transnistrians tried to established new illegal checkpoints between Moldova and their region. The inhabitants of Varnita village &#8211; being under the legitimate sovereignty of Moldova &#8211; set-back to avoid any other illegal installments in their region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Another decision which has generated tensions between sides is the prohibition of the Moldovan police officers to wear uniforms on the territory of Bender town, which is located in the Security Zone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to this local regulation, Transnistrian militia will detain any Moldovan policemen wearing uniforms and will take them to the militia station. However, there are no reports up to date of such incidents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Given the latest difficulties between Chisinau and Tiraspol, Moldova calls on the international partners involved in the &ldquo;5+2&rdquo; negotiation talks to express their official position regarding the decision taken by the separatists. The Executive will initiate talks with the mediators and observers of the negotiation format to draft a joint mechanism to monitor the situation on the administration line and prevent any actions of the so-called law-enforcement forces of Transnistria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Political experts in Chisinau do not see the &ldquo;5+2&rdquo; conflict settlement format as an efficient one.
