EU representatives didn’t question the possibility of amending the legislation in Moldova, but asked that before making any changes in the legal framework, consultations with European structures should be undergone, given that Moldova is under Council of Europe monitoring.<\/p>\n

The statement belongs to the Head of the EU mission to Moldova, Dirk Schuebel and was made today at a meeting with Communist Party leader Vladimir Voronin. The two discussed about the political situation in Moldova, including causes and measures to overcome the political crisis.<\/p>\n

The Communist leader informed the European official about party’s position regarding the latest developments in the Parliament and the voting by the Communist party of the amendments to the electoral legislation, the dismissal of the Prosecutor General and the shift of the National Anti-corruption Center under the ferule of to the Government.<\/p>\n

A special topic was the activity of the Constitutional Court and the amendment to the legislation on the right of the Parliament to recall Constitutional Court members.<\/p>\n

The officials spoke about Moldova’s relationship with the European Union on the eve of the Summit in Vilnius, and the political situation of this region in Europe, bilateral relationship with the Russian Federation, ways of solving the Transnistrian conflict and other issues of mutual interest.
