Germany “greatly regrets” the current political deadlock which started in Moldova in the wake of Government dismissal on Tuesday. Gunther Krichbaum, the chairman of Germany’s European Affairs Committee said that the leaders of the ruling coalition – Alliance for European Integration – did not fight on objective grounds but based on their personal interests.<\/p>\n

“In my personal opinion, I’d like to say that the leaders of the Alliance fought not on objective grounds, but due to interpersonal problems,” Gunther Krichbaum said during his three-day visit to Moldova on March 4-6. “Interpersonal problems can be resolved in the course of negotiations.”<\/p>\n

However, he welcomes the incentives of the governing political groups to resume talks and find a solution to overcome the political stalemate.<\/p>\n

“I am glad that the Alliance leaders are currently gathering and communicating with the assistance of the country’s president. We greatly regret that the current situation has taken place. We hope that this crisis is resolved and that pro-European forces continue to lead Moldova the down European path,” Germany’s Gunther Krichbaum said.<\/p>\n

The Moldovan Government was dismissed amid Parliamentary no-confidence vote on Tuesday, March 5th. The entire cabinet is expected to resign by March 8th. President Nicolae Timofti has to appoint a new Prime Minister within the next 45 days and the Parliament has to vote in favor. In case of two failures to appoint a new Premier, the Parliament has to be dissolved and early elections to be organized.<\/p>\n
