Two more European officials made a working visit to Moldova. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevi\u010dius and Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg voiced very encouraging messages regarding the European prospects of the Republic of Moldova. They emphasized that the country has completed a lot of reforms and is very likely to sign the Association Agreement with the EU in Vilnius in November this year.<\/p>\n

The Lithuanian diplomat pointed out that once the Agreement is signed, European integration of the Republic of Moldova will be “irreversible.” According to him, Lithuania is a strong supporter of Moldova and sees the country as a successful model in the Eastern Partnership.<\/p>\n

The Eastern Partnership is a cooperation platform of Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia with the European Union. It aims to strengthen the relations between these countries and the EU by providing assistance and promoting political and economic reforms.<\/p>\n

“We will further provide the whole assistance the Republic of Moldova needs, so that the European path is as efficient as possible,” Linas Linkevi\u010dius said. “You can be confident that Moldova has capacities and possibilities to achieve the actions it wants to undertake.”<\/p>\n

The Lithuanian official said that the European Union “needs to be confident” that the Republic of Moldova “will be able to deliver on prospective EU membership.”<\/p>\n

Czech Foreign Minister, Karel Schwarzenberg, has also praised Moldova for its achievements and mentioned that an „exceptional progress” has been accomplished in the past three years. He stated that Moldova could distinguish itself from the other states in the Eastern Partnership.<\/p>\n

„The Republic of Moldova has very good chances to advance in the dialogue with the European Union and you have all the reasons to be proud of what you have done so far,” the Czech official said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he emphasized that the large number of visits of the EU officials to Moldova demostrate that the EU clearly has great interest in Moldova.<\/p>\n

„The Association Agreement negotiations are going very well and they are very likely to be concluded at the Moldova-EU Council in June 2013,” Minister Karel Schwarzenberg said.<\/p>\n

The next round of negotiations on the Association Agreement, including ones on the provisions for establishing a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the EU, will take place in Brussels in March 2013.<\/p>\n

Since the beginning of the year, Moldova has welcomed several European officials and receiving a lot of attention from the block. The last important visit ended on February 19 when the British Foreign Minister, William Hague, the Foreign Minister of Poland, Rados\u0142aw Sikorski, and the Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt, had a two-day long visit to Moldova.<\/p>\n
