Alexandru Coliban, a 22 years old man, was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison by the illegal regime of Tiraspol, just because he got involved in the electoral campaign in December 2011. Because the Chisinau authorities failed to intervene in solving the case, the young man’s family hopes that the subject will be discussed in the framework of „5+2” negotiations, that take place these days in Lviv, Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The family was assured by Moldovan authorities, as well as by the OSCE that attempts to release Alexandru will be made or, at least, to improve his health state. However, on 12th February, during a hearing in Tiraspol, the alleged judge Natalia Climiuc upheld the sentence. In the absence of constitutional authorities’ involvement, the young man will be still illegally imprisoned in inhuman conditions for 22 months.<\/p>\n

The Promo-LEX Association filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights on the case of Alexandru Coliban. However, Alexandru’s family hopes that the negotiations in Lviv, taking place from February 18th to 19th will bring a miracle and their son will be released. <\/p>\n
