For more than a year and a half now, Moldovan citizen Vitalie Eriomenco, a businessman from Slobozia, a town in Transnistria, has been illegally imprisoned by the Tiraspol authorities. He was arrested and forced to sign papers admitting some wrongdoings. He is accused of fraud on a large scale. A penal charge has been launched against him.<\/p>\n

Eriomenco is the founder of three enterprises in Slobozia: bread and beer production factories and a mineral water bottle-filling factory. The story originates at the moment when his business partner, Victor Petriman complained to the so-called Department of Organized Crime and Corruption in Tiraspol, accusing Eriomenco of having stolen more than half a million US dollars from the companies’ accounts.<\/p>\n

Erimenco was taken early in the morning on March 29, 2011 from his office, was arrested and sent to Tiraspol.<\/p>\n

Vitalie Eriomenco did not confess at the beginning. However, after several bouts of pressure and blackmailing upon him and his family, he signed the documents that were declaring his guilt. Later, his family became troubled.<\/p>\n

The man was left several months in a narrow cell in the prison’s basement in Tiraspol. He shared the room with 16 other prisoners. He did not have light, fresh air or the basics. <\/p>\n
