U.S. President Barack Obama addressed on Tuesday a letter to Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat thanking for his previous birthday wishes. In his letter, Mr. Obama said he wants to further enhance the relationship between the United States and the Republic of Moldova for the next four years.<\/p>\n

„I am sure while working together we will be able to successfully overcome multiple challenges which the international community deals with,” Barack Obama said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Moldova-U.S. relations have been intensively developed in the past term-in-office of Barack Obama. Latest achievement in this regard took place at the end of 2012 when the U.S. Congress exempted Moldova from Jackson-Vanik Amendment.<\/p>\n

In March 2011, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden visited Moldova and addressed the nation with a speech. Few months later, U.S. Senator John McCain came to Moldova and had meetings with leadership and representatives of civil society.<\/p>\n

The United States of America was among the first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Moldova on December 25, 1991.
