EU Foreign Affairs ministers agreed Moldova to proceed to the second implementation phase of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization. The announcement was made by Moldovan Foreign Affairs Minister, Iurie Leanca during a TV show.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Iurie Leanca, our country will be visited by evaluation missions in the coming months, and based on this, reports on the level of readiness for implementing the action plan, will be prepared for the European Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the final statement adopted yesterday in Brussels, the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union stated that Moldova met all the requirements of the first phase of the Action Plan on visa liberalization and decided to start evaluating requirements established for the second phase. The Council also stressed the need for a full and effective implementation of all necessary requirements for a visa free regime with the EU.<\/span><\/p>\n

But analysts believe that Moldova has received great advance from the Europeans. Asked by Moldova.ORG, the analyst Octavian Tacu said that if we would compare the status and the situation of other countries which joined the EU, and then it is for sure that "we are far from them". "The situation is more of geopolitical nature" he believes. He added that given that Russia put pressure on Moldova, European officials offered a European orientation for the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, the analyst believes that this is due to the commitments assumed by the Moldovan leadership in dialogue with the EU, as delaying cannot be tolerated any more. "We believe this is an advance from the Europeans, determined by the progress our country registered", the analyst thinks. At the same time, he adds that it is also the desire to foster European integration process.<\/span><\/p>\n

Octavian Tacu believes that things should develop as soon as possible, so as the situation not to worsen. In this context, he brought the example of Ukraine, which didn’t pass the first phase of the dialogue. "Especially after the election of Yanukovych, Ukraine seems to have no chances to pass these phases. (…) Ukraine needs a rearrangement of political life, especially in terms of credibility, given that the country wants to be pro-European", the analyst says.<\/span><\/p>\n

The analyst Oazu Nantoi shares the same opinion. "The society received a great advance from the European Union. Perhaps the EU is more pragmatic and sees the bright side. Europeans are more pragmatic than we, Moldovans", the analyst said for Moldova.ORG.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Nantoi, this is the phase where the political class “should become responsible”. He said that this is the case when what is written on paper should be implemented, so that the society doesn’t become disappointed.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is to note that Action Plans on visa liberalization for the Eastern Partnership countries are composed of two phases. In the first phase the country should reform the legislation and in the second phase to ensure the effective implementation of legislative changes.
